Classroom Expectations:

MATERIALS FOR CLASS

All students are expected to come prepared to class with necessary materials.  Namely pen and paper.

When we are studying a major work (novel, play, etc.) you will be expected to have your text for every class.

HOMEWORK

Homework will be communicated through my Twitter account.  Important announcements and due dates can be found there.

Washroom Use

Students are expected to take the hall pass. On the third floor you will need to take the YELLOW pass. If you are going to another floor you will need to take the RED pass.

Missed Class Work

Students are expected to catch up on any work they miss throughout the year. Nearly all class material is posted in the class folders on the main page of this website. Still, students are expected to gather day to day notes from a student who was present.

Missed Assessments

Students will be expected to complete ALL assessments that were not written/completed on the original date. It is preferred that students contact me in advance to notify me that they will be unable to complete an assessment on a designated date. Students who miss assessments will need to conference with me when they return to class regarding a suitable time to complete the missed assessment. Missed tests may be scheduled for the next class, at lunch, or after school.

Extended Vacations/Absences

During the course of school year it is likely that students will be away from class for extended vacations, extra-curricular events and/or medical reasons. Students attending family vacations will be responsible to catch on material when they return or get a head start on materials before they leave. I WILL NOT be providing students with a detailed unit plan of what they will miss while away. You’re on vacation…..enjoy it!

As for students absent for medical reasons, I will do whatever I can to accommodate. As long as the lines of communication are open, I should be able to keep you up to speed on course progress.

Use of Electronics

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District’s current policy on the use of electronics states: “Technology cannot be used during class time for personal or private use unless permission is granted by the school principal. Permission shall only be granted for exceptional circumstances. ” ALL students will be expected to ask permission before using any electronic device in my classroom.
